New Zealand – Roxburgh

After staying in Alexandra for 2 months, I tried to find a job in the orchards as it was the summer season and the summer fruits are ready to be harvested, I could not find a orchard to work in, I managed to find a job in a orchard in Alexandra as a cherry picker and was really happy about it! but after 3 days, I got fired because I was picking too little cherries.. I applied for a fruit picking job with the seasonal solutions there, and got a job to pick blueberries in a Roxburgh orchard, so I asked my housemate if they could give me a lift to Roxburgh and he drove me in his van along the beautiful countryside to Roxburgh, it was half an hours drive and the drive there was really beautiful.

I stayed at the farm there, and the farm look really enchanting in the morning when it is misty and the morning sun cast a orange glow on the mist.. I started picking blueberries and it was really fun, we sat on trolleys and roll our way across the blueberries bushes, and pick the blueberries and put them into ice cream containers.. the blueberries grew in bunches and I have to pick the ripe ones where the whole berry is totally blue, the unripe ones have a little bit of pink at the bottom.. I worked there for 2 weeks and met lots of new people, they showed a lot of new things, like cooking different cuisines and we drive to the beach and lake in the town.. here some photos of the farm I picked blueberries and stayed at

finally, after 2 weeks I decided to leave, as I wanted to try doing something else.. I got a job in a nearby orchard as a fruit packer, it was fun packing fruits too, I have never been in a fruit packing warehouse before and it was quite a sight and experience, I was packing apricots most of the time, in boxes and also in display boxes.. for different varieties of apricots.. it was so cool and I have never been surrounded by so many apricots before.. many bright yellow round apricots filling up the whole warehouse.. it was a very enjoyable experience there and it filled my spirit up with much delight, here some photos of the rented apartment i was living in and some photos of the Roxburgh orchard i was packing apricots at…
